Currently the new system requires you have you vehicle properly checked with the computerised vehicle inspection centre in lagos to be issued a road worthiness.
Below are 10 requirements your car must pass to get the road worthiness certificate.
1 Brakes:
Foot brakes must stop car within 8m at a 32km/h speed
parking brake should be adequate enough to stop and hold the car
2 Lights
Two head lights one on each side on the front beam
vehicle should be equipped with two brake lights
vehicle must be equipped with turn signals
Two reflectors on each side of the car
Parking lights must be working perfectly
3 Horn must be heard at a distance of 60m
4 a muffler and exhaust system must be equipped with an exhaust emission system to help reduce air pollution
5.Plates must have two valid plates ( one in front, the other at the back)
6.Wind shield wiper must be working properly
7.Rear view mirror must be located as to be able to reflect a view of the highway of a 60m distance from the rear
8. General body must be in shape
9. engine must be in good condition
10. all vehicles are required to be equipped with tyres that are in proper and safe condition with a minimum thread depth of 2/32nds of a inch
